The foundation stone for today’s success was laid by Johann Windhager as early as 1983 – with the production and sale of environmentally friendly electronic devices to combat voles. Since then, new markets have been continuously opened up through geographical expansion and the extension of the product range. Milestones in this process are the foundation of Windhager Schweiz AG and Windhager GmbH Germany in 1986, and Windhager France S.arl just one year later.

Pest control is still a central success factor in the Windhager product range, which is constantly being expanded with market-oriented product innovations and now also includes insect screens, garden accessories of all kinds and privacy screens. Particularly noteworthy in this respect is the significant investment in Gale Pacific Ltd Australia, the leading supplier of COOLAROO awnings, ZONE blinds, insect screens and HIGHROVE Glass Solutions in 2009. This was followed in 2014 by the expansion of the product range in the film and tablecloth business with the Vénilia brand.

The consistent expansion of the product range and geographical expansion has always meant investment in the location – from the origins in Grödig, via Obertrum to Thalgau, where the company headquarters, including the logistics centre, are constantly being expanded and modernised. Efficiency is at the forefront: on the one hand through optimised logistics processes such as semi-automatic conveyor lines and wave picking. However, sustainable energy concepts such as the installation of a photovoltaic system with around 180,000 kWh/year as well as the conversion to the most modern LED system also distinguish Windhager.
